The goal of the project was to create an enterprise-level, unified sensor catalog that eliminates fragmented knowledge management between production sites and establishes the standardized selection and use of sensors across the entire organization in the long term. The initiative directly supported the reduction of parallel procurements, the acceleration of technical decision-making, and the standardization of technical solutions related to maintenance.
Nordconn’s role was to develop a central, easy-to-use digital solution that serves as a single, reliable source for sensor data and effectively supports technical and maintenance decision-makers. In a short time, a Microsoft-native platform was created, which, built on existing corporate environments, became usable in a live environment without involving external applications or data platforms.
A strong emphasis was placed during the project on standardizing data of different structures and quality arriving from various sites. To solve this, a data model was developed that simultaneously complies with business logic and the technical limitations of the Microsoft Power Platform, while remaining flexibly expandable according to future needs.
The solution was embodied in a Power Apps-based sensor catalog application, which provides search and filter functions, detailed views, commenting and rating options, as well as automated Excel-based report export. Data management is supported by a SharePoint-based data model and a structured data entry and maintenance process, which enables sustainable operation in the long term.
