Hydro’s global digital transformation program affects more than 40,000 employees, and its goal is the uniform understanding, acceptance, and long-term embedding of new technologies into everyday operations. Nordconn provides end-to-end support during the complex transformation: by integrating strategic change communication and targeted learning solutions, we help develop digital mindset and competencies.
As a consultant, we operate a global change communication framework that supports the embedding of digital operations through “digital awareness” campaigns, educational content, and training communication. We increase efficiency with AI-based tools, including video generation solutions, the involvement of Hydro’s own chatbot and translation tools, as well as the integration of new AI-based tools such as Synthesia into the organization.
The communication program is complemented by a comprehensive learning strategy built on mapping the roles affected by digitalization and assessing the existing knowledge base. Personalized “learning journeys” were created from factory workers to IT developers, focusing on relevance and proper timing, to ensure that the trainings are closely linked to the current challenges of the employees.
One of the main challenges of the project was the extremely diverse, global workforce. We applied localized, culturally sensitive communication and learning solutions to ensure that learning is attractive, relevant, and accessible in all regions.
During the project, we continuously achieve measurable results: an active community on the Viva Engage platform, where the number of members doubled in 1 year, significant newsletter readership, and 4 digitalization events where we participated in presenting various innovative solutions. On the learning side, hundreds of affected employees became able to understand Hydro’s digitalization goals, their own role in the transformation, and how evolving digital operations support their daily work. In addition, we held numerous trainings and workshops on agile working methods and technological solutions.
